I was so lucky to be able to test for Saskia from The Wolf and the Tree the past couple of weeks! It was love at first sight and I would have been buying the pattern for sure if I had not been chosen to test it! There are options galore- shirt or tunic length with or without underskirt ruffles. There are 2 lengths of ruffles so you can do short, long, or both. Then there is a high low hem with all those same options!
The top is constructed beautifully! The bodice is lined and the ruffles are attached to the lining rather than the outer top. It gives it such an amazing look. In addition, the seam for attaching the ruffles is away from my little one’s legs. She is quite picky about how her clothing feels and she doesn’t mind this tunic one bit! (She’s so comfy in it, she decided photo shoot time would be perfect for taking a nap on the sidewalk 😀 Funny girl!!)
I chose to do the tunic length with both ruffle lengths added. I used some beautiful double brushed poly from So Sew English. It is soooooo soft!! My only regret is that I did not have any lace to go with it. I’m definitely going to be copycatting some other versions I’ve seen and adding lace as the short ruffle!
I bought the fabric because it was beautiful. Little did I know, it would be a perfect match to Monster Baby’s eyes!
